Characteristics of PET film for food grade packaging materials

On the whole, the food grade packaging material PET film has high transparency, good strength, good insulation and high barrier property. In the application of food packaging bags, the main performances are as follows: First, PET film has good printability, and ink has good adhesion. In the process of overprint, the layers of patterns are clear, and the ink colors can be presented well. Secondly, its barrier property is particularly good, which can effectively prevent oxygen, organic gas, nitrogen, water vapor and other gases from passing through the film. Then it has good strength and high stiffness, so that the surface of the package is more flat. Finally, the new energy of PET is stable, and the temperature has little effect on it. However, the heat sealing performance of PET film is poor and cannot be sealed.

Application of packaging material PET film in food packaging bags

PET cannot be used as a single layer food packaging bag because of its poor heat sealing performance. Some people think that it is not allowed to contact with food directly, which is a wrong view. Food grade PET can directly contact with food. For example, many of our plastic boxes, trays and plastic bottles are made of PET. Therefore, the food packaging bags made of PET are all composite bags, mainly used as the printing layer and the barrier layer. PET composite packaging materials, such as PET/NY/PE, will be used when making bag types such as vertical, octagonal and quadrilateral seals. Its good strength and stiffness can make food packaging bags stand up better. Also, vacuum, cooking, freezing and other food packaging bags will also use PET composite, such as PET/AL/PE. Because PET film has good elongation and resistance to temperature, it will not deform under high or low temperature environment, and will maintain good barrier property and flexibility.
