The use of EVA film

EVA has excellent characteristics such as softness, adhesion, strong toughness (especially impact resistance), heat sealing, cold resistance, optical properties (shiny, transparent, etc.), and stress cracking resistance. Utilizing its characteristics, it is widely used in heavy packaging, flexible packaging, liquid packaging, close fitting packaging, stretch packaging, and container bags.

(1) Due to the strong toughness, heat sealing, and cold resistance of EVA, heavy packaging bags are used as heavy packaging materials abroad. EVA used for heavy packaging has a VA content of 5% (mass fraction), and its performance is similar to LDPE, so there is competition between them. EVA has superior toughness, heat sealing, and cold resistance compared to LDPE. EVA resin is not used in heavy packaging due to its high price in China.

(2) Soft packaging, also known as soft packaging. It is a packaging material composed of EVA film and other films (such as polypropylene, polyester, nylon, etc.), Cellophane, and aluminum foil. It is mainly used for food packaging. The method of dry composite and extrusion composite co extrusion composite is adopted. Due to the fact that the VA content of such resins is generally below 10% (mass fraction), the strength, toughness, heat sealing, and durability of EVA have been fully utilized. Due to the development of food packaging towards automation and high-speed, there is a higher demand for packaging material performance, especially for packaging materials with excellent toughness and heat sealing properties.

(3) Liquid packaging also utilizes the strong toughness, heat sealing, and environmental stress cracking resistance of EVA, and is used for liquid packaging such as edible oils, vinegar, wine, drugs, detergents, etc., often using EVA composite films. The packaging is in the form of bag in the box or inner bag with Kraft paper heavy packaging. EVA for such purposes generally has a VA content below 10% (mass fraction).

(4) Body to body packaging utilizes EVA's characteristics of softness, optics, and adhesion, which can be used for body to body packaging. High voltage corona discharge treatment of EVA film can quickly improve the adhesion between the treated surface and cardboard. Even without applying adhesive on cardboard, it still has excellent adhesion. It is mainly used for packaging sundries, but also popular for packaging Machine element, tools, electrical parts, etc. EVA used in this field often has a VA content of over 10% (mass fraction).
